This year marks the twentieth annual Season of Hope concert at Sacred Heart Parish. This will be the 11th one that I have helped with. Being involved in this tradition definitely makes me feel a part of the Sacred Heart family. The musicians who started this tradition 20 years ago continue to participate.
Advent is often lost amidst the preparations for Christmas. This concert, which includes songs and Scripture, helps us to celebrate Advent, to prepare our hearts to celebrate the birth of Jesus and to prepare our hearts for Jesus’ Second Coming in glory.
We have some standards that are sung every year and someone always brings something new that we all enjoy. Sometimes, we have to remove a song that we have grown to love because the lyrics don’t agree with Catholic theology. We always struggle to KEEP Christmas OUT.
I especially enjoy our Season of Hope poster. Artist Martin Bruckner created this poster while a student. His mother, Mary, has dedicated her life to providing beautiful music in our parish.
Join us on Sunday, November 29th, at 7:00 pm at St. Mary’s Church.
