In Advent, 2015, Sacred Heart Parish will replace Breaking Bread missalettes with Journeysongs hymnals. This change will save us money and will provide us with the readings for Sunday Mass.

I am excited about this change and pray that the parish also embraces it. I have fond memories of playing out of the Episcopalian Hymnal 82, the blue Presbyterian hymnal and the green Lutheran (ELCA) hymnal at former church positions. A hymnal brings with it a sense of identity and culture. Journeysongs promises to provide our parish with the least bumpy transition to a hymnal. It is published by the Oregon Catholic Press which also publishes Breaking Bread. The song indexes are almost identical.
